On the 5th April 2014, at 08h30 in the morning, I decided I wanted to shoot my collaboration with MaXhosa by Laduma. I had decided that the collaboration would be a five-day style diary, where I showcased my styling skills and love for the city of Cape Town.
I started by calling Laduma Ngxokolo, the designer, and told him that that day was the day to shoot our collaboration. He eagerly agreed. I then called Mpumelelo Macu, my incredibly talented friend and photographer, and confirmed that at 14h00 we would shoot a series of looks for the style diary.
I then thought of Ignatius Mokone and optimistically called him, hoping he would be available to shoot some behind-the-scenes images of the shoot. Igy cancelled all his plans and promised to pull through.
I had received an email a week prior to the shoot from Ezra Mokgope, a student from UCT. He reached out and asked if he could intern or assist at one of my shoots, and I thought that this collaboration would be the perfect opportunity for him to learn something worthwhile.
I had so much fun shooting all these looks, and hopefully everyone who followed the style diary loved it as much as I still do. Thank you once again to Laduma Ngxokolo, Mpumelelo Macu, Ignatius Mokone, Sibabalwe Mona and Ezra Mokgope for your passion and contribution to this project.
